Hi everyone, I wanted to share my latest commission with you. This one is an African Blackwood and Sitka "Session" model with a 12 fret neck. It was made for a local musician and one of my best friends. He is an outdoorsman, and wanted to capture that through the inlays we chose for the instrument. The falling leaves are cut from Koa and Myrtle. The mountains are walnut and maple, and the cypress tree is walnut that I got from a tree off of his families walnut farm. The leaves are Koa, the moss and bird are myrtle, and the moon is MOP. All inlays are hand cut from scratch. Im super pleased with the sound and playability of this guitar and can't wait to get started on the next one! Thanks for looking!

Wow! That is a gorgeous guitar. The wood inlays are amazing. It looks like you managed to inlay actual leaves in the fretboard and the mountain range inlay over your end graft is very cool.

Awesome! Love everything about it. The inlays, the blackwood, the bound fingerboard, and the shape. 12 fret neck, but with a high waist and slim upper bout so it doesn't look like a peanut :) Very similar to the new shape I just drew up a few days ago, actually.

And for a guy named Forrest? How fitting can you get :D

That is pretty. I especially like the falling leaves on the fret board.

Pretty guitar, very rustic but elegant at the same time.

It's a brave luthier that inlays into a body. Gorgeous and tasteful work. Your inlay work definitely falls into the category of "don't try this at home".

Knock-out! [:Y:]

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Wow. There are so many beautiful guitar being made be people on this forum that you become desensitized. Ho hum, another great guitar. Then one comes along that is so amazing it takes your breath away. This one did that for me.

I hope, if I work really hard at it, someday I'll make a guitar that nice!
